Ice Age

It's getting incredibly cold here in the Lakes.  Yesterday it rained and the the rain has now turned to ice on the snow.  Aparantly this doesn't happen all that often.  The forecast says more cold and drizzle on the way.  Although it did seem to be thawing yesterday.  It is a bit grey and misserable today so I'm bunkered in The Apple Pie with my hands cupped around a huge pot of tea.

I've sorted the mess of gear out in my truck in anticipation of driving over to Thrilmere tomorrow morning.  It would be nice if the sun came out so I can get a great view from Striding Edge.  Last night I holed up in the YHA Ambleside, I had a great view of the Lake all night.  I am drinking my tea slowly and planning my next move, perhaps a small walk up to Elterwater.  There should be plenty of ice up there.

Peace,

Dan
